Steel cut oatmeal takes a while to cook, but sure is worth it once it's done... each bite is soft but has a slight crunch to it and not all mushy like some oatmeal can get. I use McCann's in the metal container.

Steelcut oatmeal with bananas, blueberries and slivered almonds
Steel cut Oatmeal
4 cups boiling water
1 cup oats
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Boil water in saucepan, add oats and stir until it starts to get thick. Turn temperature down to simmer and cook for 30 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally. Add fruit, nuts and milk if you like, and a touch of brown sugar for a delicious breakfast.
